BANGKOK, March 26 (Xinhua) — Thailand\’s government is likely to enforce the Internal Security Act (ISA) at the venue of the Mekong River Commission Summit during April 2 to 5, Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thuagsuban said on Friday, Thai News Agency reported.
The summit will be held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in resort town Hua Hin locating in Thailand\’s central province Prachuap Khiri Khan during April 2-5.
Hence, Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva, Deputy Premier Suthep, and Satit Wonghnongtaey, Prime Minister\’s Office Minister inspected the planned venue for the summit.
Their inspection was made in a bid to assess if it will be necessary to impose the ISA law, the National News Bureau of Thailand (NNT) under the government\’s Public Relations Department reported?
Thousands of protesters led by the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) group have converged on capital Bangkok since March 12 to press Prime Minister Abhisit to dissolve the lower House of parliament and call new election.
Hence, it is feared that they may move to stage a rally at the summit\’s venue since the UDD or red-shirted group has announced their rally will be prolonged.
The red-shirted main rally site is now at the Phan Fah Bridge in the center of capital Bangkok.
